A painter who works on both canvas and paper, Roger White’s work seeks to transcend the mundane quality of everyday objects, through portrait-like portrayal, juxtaposition, and abstraction. Using a process that involves watercolor, airbrushed acrylics and stencils, White renders his still-life subjects and patterns with an eye for angle, repetition and shadow that elevates their everyday nature.
Roger White has been included in shows at Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, CA, American Academy of Arts and Letters, New York, NY, and Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, NC. His collaboration with artist Dushko Petrovich was shown at the 2013 deCordova Biennial, Lincoln, MA. He is also the co-founder of the contemporary art journal Paper Monument, which is published by n+1 and designed by Project Projects. In 2015 he published The Contemporaries: Travels in the 21st-Century Art World.
