Join MassArt for an artist talk featuring textile artist Marisol Centeno and reception of the current exhibition Viaje al Hilo.
Marisol Centeno Domínguez (Mexico, 1985) studied textile design at the Universidad Iberoamericana. Her work is based on a respect for diversity and the exchange of ideas between traditional artisan crafts and principles of contemporary design. Marisol has exhibited widely at venues including: Zona Maco Contemporary Art Fair, the Rufino Tamayo Museum, the Galería Mexicana de Diseño, The Centro Nacional de las Artes, and the Franz Mayer Muesum in Mexico City, as well as the Museo de Arte in Sinaloa and The Centro Cultural Clavijero in Morelia. She received the award for “Best Designer” in the “Hand Made” category in CASAVIVA Magazine in 2013. Marisol is a current member of Comex’s new Trend Forecast ColorLife 16.
Viaje al Hilo is an appreciation of the complex fusion of traditional textile principles with everyday contemporary life, revealed through the recreation of atmospheres, landscapes, environments and materials. The exhibition is co-organized by the Consulate General of Mexico in Boston and is made possible in part through the support from the Agencia Mexicana de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo, Estados Unidos Mexicanos and Bi Yuu.
The exhibition will be on view November 2 through November 30.
