You'll be amazed and say wow when you hear world renowned artist, Janet Echelman, talk about her work. She is an artist who defies categorization as she creates experiential sculptures at the scale of buildings! Her work transforms with wind and light and shifts from being an object you look at, to a living environment you can get lost in. Using unlikely materials from fishnet to atomized water particles, Echelman combines ancient craft with cutting-edge technology to create artworks that have become focal points for urban life on four continents.

Her artworks in the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Europe led to the Guggenheim, New York Foundation for the Arts, and Aspen Institute Crown Fellowships; the Smithsonian American Ingenuity Award for “dazzling art that transforms cityscape;” and being named an Architectural Digest Innovator for “changing the very essence of urban spaces.” Her TED Talk Taking Imagination Seriously has been translated into 34 languages with more than 1 million views.

Don't miss this lecture presented by RISD CAREERS in conjunction with Design Week RI 2015! To see more of Janet's remarkable work, check out her site or watch her TED talk to be inspired. Register for this event!
