Jenny O'Dell at Montserrat

  • Montserrat College of Art, Room H201 23 Essex St Beverly, MA 01915 (map)

Join us for San Francisco-based artist, Jenny O'Dell's public artist talk. O'Dell's work combines the mining of online imagery with writing and research, usually in an attempt to highlight the material nature of our modern networked existence. Because her practice involves collecting, tagging and cataloguing, she has often been compared to a natural scientist – specifically, a lepidopterist.

Jenny O’Dell meticulously researches discarded objects in an effort to show their embeddedness and persistence in everyday networks. In doing so, her work inhabits an obsessive archeological approach to the present. An abbreviated version latest project, "The Bureau of Suspended Objects" is currently on view in the Montserrat Gallery through April 2, 2016.
