Please join us for Juan Obando's lecture on video, performance and social practice.

Juan Obando’s work focuses on the intervention of social systems through the orchestration of mediated experiences and the development of locative performances, collaborative networks, and experimental publications —using social phenomena as raw material within a critical and playful approach.

Juan started working in his native Bogotá in 2005, where he received a BA in Industrial Design with a minor in Architecture and Urbanism from Universidad de los Andes and he holds an MFA in Electronic Time-based Art from Purdue University. Among his recent exhibitions are Museum Mixtape (solo), Reverse Art Space, Brooklyn, NYC; Selections, Bakalar and Paine Galleries, Boston, MA; The Champions (solo), El Parqueadero, Banco de la República, Bogotá 2015; Default Browser (solo), (bis) | oficina de proyectos, Cali 2015 and NADA, Bogotá 2015; A Bird Without A Song (solo), Espacio ArtVersus, Bogotá 2014; Frame & Frequency, Plecto Galería, Medellín 2014; Colombia Hoy, I Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de Cartagena de Indias, Cartagena 2014; La Desilusión de la Certeza o la Ilusión de la Incertidumbre, Pabellón ArteCámara, ArtBo, Bogotá 2013; White Only (solo), MIAMI, Bogotá 2013; Goddess Clap Back / Hip Hop Feminism in Art, CUE Art Foundation, New York, 2013.
