Artist’s Workshop with Georgina Lewis
A Little Big Workshop
Hands-on workshop with "Placemaking Objects" exhibiting artist Georgina Lewis
Boston Center for the Arts – Mills Gallery
Thursday, August 21 | 6:30pm

Georgina Lewis, exhibiting artist in current Mills Gallery exhibition "Placemaking Objects", likes to play with scale. Scaling doesn't just make things larger or smaller, it reveals new potentials and narratives. Stretch the sound of a pin drop 10 fold or shoot a close-up of a concrete tube and you have something new: a roaring lion or lunar landscape. Scaling can give power to the inconsequential and may force reassessment.

Jonathan Swift famously confronted the malleability of scale in his 1726 novel, Gulliver's Travels; we will use copies of his original text and other materials as objects of exploration and expansion. Join Georgina as she shares with guests the malleability of scale. Attendees will be supplied with basic art tools and are invited to supplement their explorations with materials of their own such as photos and audio recordings.
