Does Education Define an Artist? Panel Discussion at Tufts

  • Tufts University Art Galleries 40 Talbot Street Medford, MA 02155 United States (map)

The predominantly self-taught artists in the exhibition Expressions Unbound prompt us to consider how artists have been trained and identified throughout history. Join us for a discussion of the role of art pedagogy from the 14th-century atelier to the Bauhaus to current trends in studio-drive graduate degrees. Panelists include: Jamie Franklin, curator, Bennington Museum; Susan Jahoda, core member, BFAMFAPHD; Chiara Pidatella, research curator, Tufts University Art Galleries; Jacob Stewart-Halevy, assistant professor of art history, Tufts University.
