Join us for a FREE artist's presentation and reception from BCA Fall 2018 Artist Resident Woomin Kim. Woomin has spent this fall working with the Boston art community in a series of small group workshops to create a large textile woven from personally meaningful donated objects and materials. This artist's presentation and reception will include a showing of Woomin's final work and a presentation from the artist about her project!

The stories of our everyday lives exist within the objects and materials we are attached to. Whether it be worn clothing or nostalgic keepsakes, these collected, touched and worn objects contain memories and past experiences. Woomin works with workshop participants to create unique and densely layered strings braided from personal fabric (such as t-shirts, blouses and table cloths) and objects (such as old jewelry, ornaments and broken headphones). She then crochets the material into a large web-like work. In the process of creating the flexible, free, expansive fabric collectively, Woomin hopes to create a portrait of our community that carries a variety of memories, stories, tastes and personalities.
